Hypermobility in Newcastle

Hypermobility in children refers to joints in the body that move easily beyond their normal range due to weakness of the connective tissue (collagen) in the muscles, ligaments, tendons and skin. Your physio will complete an assessment and then provide a tailored physiotherapy treatment plan which may include:

  • An exercise program to improve the strength and stability of your child’s hypermobile joints
  • Orthotics and/or footwear to improve foot and leg posture
  • Taping or dynamic splinting to improve alignment and decrease pain and fatigue
  • Aquatic physiotherapy to protect the joints whilst completing strengthening activities
